Many plus rigid lenses are made as minus carrier lenticular designs. In this case the carrier portion of the lens is thinner at the junction than it is towards the edge. This allows the upper lid to hold the lens up in place very similarly to a -3 D or -4 D lens.
The edge thickness, prior to some shaping, is often in the range of 0.18 mm to 0.22 mm.
